well not really a problem but noticed today while on a nice drive. that auto meter boost gauge i have hooked would not read past 4psi at WOT in any gear.

has anyone ever experienced something like this? could it be the wastegate actuator? im almost positive that there a no vacume leaks. what could cause this?

thanks

Well, strictly speaking, it would be a boost leak, not a vacuum leak. When I've had one, it makes a very noticeable whooshing noise. Vacuum is good for keeping hoses on, but when you run boost, they like to pop off.

Stock turbo? Bearings spin freely? What's the exhaust system like? Converter?

yeah i know i dont think i have a problem with any of my hoses ill double check. dont really notice a whoosing noise. yeah stock turbo no emission or anything not important

exhaust is alittle leaky but its strait thru no cats. I would suspect the problem is not with the turbo.

first thing to check would be the boost guage, ive got an autometer that reads 4psi sitting in the garage!

next is the car fast? 4psi should feel kinda slow

jwteknix 06-02-2008 07:04 PM

Well its not stuck it moves with through vac and all the way up to 4psi if thats what you mean j9. Any way yeah I'll check the gauge too

As for it being fast i mean it still pulls at that boost but but doesn't go over four its never been a really fast car LOL I'm gonna go over every thing tomorrow

thanx James
