The other day I went to go to work, running late, started my 89 74k mile vert. I realized that I had moved my license plates around and didn't have time to put them on, so I shut it off and jumped into my new Evo (woohoo!, but another story).

So, I go to start the RX today...no go. It turns over, but won't start.

Do you think its possible that I have blown the motor on a carbon desposit. Seems like it turns over a little too quickly. Does the carbon deposit problem typically lock the engine up, or have you guys seen it blow the seals and keep free?

Any help is appreciated...thanks!

Sounds like you flooded it. Rotarys dont like to be started and then shut off again really quickly.

1)pull fuel pump fuse

2) pull sparkplugs

3) crank motor for a few seconds at a time (space them out, you dont want to murder your starter. Also...dont smoke https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR)

4)Before you crank, nail the gas pedal to the floor. this will cut off the injectors

5)wait until nothing comes out of the spark plug holes

6)replace plugs (hopefully new)

7)replace fuel pump fuse

this is for a 3rd gen, but i doubt anything is different.

This should be posted in the second gen section...

I don't think it is blown. An 89' with 74K miles? Those would have to be demolition derby miles to have a blown an N/A.

Prolly is flooded like freeman says. I learned the hard way to not turn off the car until it idles down. I fouled brand new plugs like a dummy https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Good luck
