The other day I went to go to work, running late, started my 89 74k mile vert. I realized that I had moved my license plates around and didn't have time to put them on, so I shut it off and jumped into my new Evo (woohoo!, but another story).
So, I go to start the RX today...no go. It turns over, but won't start. Do you think its possible that I have blown the motor on a carbon desposit. Seems like it turns over a little too quickly. Does the carbon deposit problem typically lock the engine up, or have you guys seen it blow the seals and keep free? Any help is appreciated...thanks! |
i blew a seal on the rear rotor and the car would start with a lot of gas just run real rough.
it sounds like your car is flooded. if you do a cold start and it runs for just a few seconds it can flood out before all the extra fuel gets burnt off. look up the flooding thread in the F.A.Q section. happened to me a couple times |
Dood, I'm sitting hear buggin out cause I can't get home to check it out....thanks for the reply... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

IF its flooded:
when you go home go buy new spark plugs....then unplug the EGI fuse...take out the leading spark plugs.....crank the engine for 10 seconds.....let it sit for a few...then once more for 10 seconds install egi fuse, install new plugs....start car |
FrestyleFC3S.....
Why do you suggest the new plugs and taking out the leading plugs to unflood? Up until my rebuild, I had a lot of flooding problems and I would take out the EGI fuse, crank it over, re-install and it would start right up. No plug removal or nothing. This was with both clean and dirty plugs. Mine is an 87 GXL (S4). I also thought that an 89 could be unflooded just by flooring the accelerator. I guess I am wrong. |
