Cancel that, I forgot he got a new, beefier truck that carries all his stuff, rather than the smaller truck with a trailer he had before. So he has no room to carry anything. Damn.

Ok, I got bored and disassembled one of the motors on Saturday (huge mistake in that heat, damn near passed out). The rotor housings were corroded/missing some material on the edges, so I'm tossing those for scrap. The side irons look ok I guess, they can just be lapped and be fine, right? I didn't see any gouges or anything, but I haven't cleaned them either. The coolant passages are all rusty. Not sure if they're worth selling, since they're 6-port irons. The oil seals came out of both rotors just fine, they looked intake as well. Some coolant seals looked like they were just gone.
One rotor looks pretty good, I managed to pull all the apex seals and springs out, even kept from losing the triangle pieces. They all look intact. Do people re-use these? Haven't bothered with side seals or corner seals. The 2nd rotor is extremely rusty on one face, so the 2 seals adjacent are fused in place. There rust all over that face, bubbled up and everything. |

Check the tolerances on the pieces you think are useful |
The thing is, "check tolerance" involves tools I don't have and a reduction in laziness.
I think I'm going to go the scrap metal/bookends route. Oh, the e-shaft. It's a lot heavier than I thought it would be! Is it normal to have some bluing just off of edge of the bearing surface (where it rides inside each rotor)? Not on the surface itself, but just next to it. |
Also have stationary gears, they look great, but I'm guessing nobody would want those, right?
