What are the best aftermarket springs for an 88 gxl. I need them to go with my kyb agx shocks. I'm leaning towards eibach or suspension techniques.
|
either one of those is a good choice.

ST are good. That's what I have and what I recommend.
|
What I was concerned about is the ST are only 120 lb/inch front and rear linear while the Eibachs are progressive and 70/185 lb/inch front and 85/165 lb/inch rear. The equal rates of the ST springs look like they would make the car oversteer more, or at least reduce understeer, which I hate. Stock rates are 90/95 front/back. I don't like the idea of the softer initial rate than stock.

hmm, how about racing beat? 130f and 80r ?
mike |
Do you guys know the rates of intrax and apex? The new car came with intrax aqnd I still have apex from my old one. Which one do you guys recommend I use?
Thanks |

I like the eibachs, they are easier on my kidneys https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png
|
I like a stiff suspension, so I don't mind.
|
I like my ST springs. Gotta slow turning onto some of the streets in my neighborhood so I don't scrape though.
|
intrax has really good stiff suspension, thats what i have https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png , and people tell me how they love my suspension because of how solid it is
rb is pretty good though |

Problem is unless I went with coilovers, I won't be able to get a custom spring rate like that.
|
or am I wrong here?

Racing Beat is expensive. I get a better discount on the Eibach. I'll probably just get them.
|
btw, I run 550/450 in my 3rd gen and its pretty stiff, might go stiffer though.

better than what?
|
than the 550-450
mike |
Na not for the track. The 550/450 is a very good street/track compromise. I plan to move up to 650/550 in the future. Keep in mind that I run the M2/AD suspension which is very well dampened. It is stiffer but rides alot better than alot of other cars I've been in.

suspension technics are good for street use but i dont think u can drive too hard with those.
|
It's for his '88 GXL. Note how it says "88 maroon gxl daily beater" in his signature thingy.
