Hello,



i have an 87 and for some reason, the battery doesnt want to hold a charge, i took the alternator to autozone to test it and and its fine, when i jump it and drive it around a little, and stop, itll start again right away, but if i wait an hour or 2, it wont start. What could be the problem, its a brand new battery. thanks in advanced

Either check ur battery, or you have a short in ur charging system, maybe even try redoing ur grounds.

Either your battery needs replacing or something is drawing power when the car is off. There is some tool that you can test the batery with, I think its called a hydrometer.

if your battery is brand new, you most likely have a "key-off battery drain" which basically means something is drawing power when your car is off. Especially since you say you can turn it off and back on but then in an hour or so it wont start again, that leads me to believe something is slowly killing it.



To find the drain normally requires a lot of using a test light or a voltmeter, or just looking around for anything being on when it shouldnt be.



if its not a drain, then perhaps a faulty battery.



the charging system isnt too complicated, so its somewhat easy to figure out the problem.
