That radiator looks HUGE!, surely no cooling issues there, especially w/ the E-fan! Nice work https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif

With all the parts and wiring the total cost came out to be abuot 200 bucks...not bad considering what they sell kits for.

ColinRX7 06-10-2004 08:34 AM

Cool stuff!

I've been thinking of putting in a Fluidyne radiator and an E-Fan in my Rx-7 ... Do you guys keep the stock fan after installing the E-Fan? And it is setup to pull air into the engine bay right? How are you guys wiring it up, are you just connecting it to run as soon as the key is in the "on" position?

marcus7 06-10-2004 11:41 AM

Using both fans simultaneously would be problematic as they occupy the same space.

The Felx-a-Lite Black Magic 150 e-fan has a thermosensor that turns the fan on when the radiator reaches a certain temperature. The temperature at which the fan turns on is adjustable. The fan also has an AC trigger. Tap into the AC's electromagnetic clutch switch, and whenever the AC is on, so is the fan.

The downside is the supplied fan shroud does not cover the entire radiator. Some people get around this by using the Black Magic fan in the OEM shroud.

We are going to wire it into the microtech using a relay. Having an efan on all the time is doing it half assed. With the k2rd radiator and that efan my temps ran cool enough to get away without having a fan shroud.

O ok ... I thought there would have been enough space for both to work on there. I was thinking of going with the Flex-A-Lite Trimline 116 ... HERE ... but anyways I guess just the Fluidyne would be good enough seeing as my car right now never really goes over 1/4 the way up.
