I just got mine today--that is one heavy ass pulley.I figured it would be light.Im wondering if its really worth puting it on now.

It isn't meant to lighten anything up, it's meant to keep the alternator belt from squeeling if you remove the airpump. lightening isn't going to do anything besides increase the odds of it breaking... just my thoughts.

If you want lighter shell out 52 for the Racing beat pulley, and be prepared to deal with undercharging while you cruise around town with a Thumper-stereo.

Sounds like a good answer to me--lol--thanks guys.

I do have to keep the alternator up to par with whats in my car.

I am trying to get this new motor Up to par. This time I am doing **** that i should have already have done.I got the header and silencer from mazdatrix,The air pump will be gone,Im removing the air control valve with there block off plate.I got a light weight flywheel from rx7.com,new centerforce duel friction clutch, going with an electric fan also.Hopefully this can free up some power--any more ideas while the motor is out?Ive already spent close to 4500.00 And im still not through with getting it all togethor.

"going with an electric fan also"

All that is going to do is to add additional load on your over-worked electrical system. I recommend staying with the stock shroud and stock fan. It is more efficient than any elcetric fan out there

except the electric fan that is OFF because you're moving fast enough to flow sufficient cooling air through the radiator.

but yeah, banzai has a point about the charging system, it will have trouble keeping up.

banzai, since you already had these pulleys made why not have some aluminum ones done and sell them for more? if it's still less than RB you'll have buyers... Also, I don't think the RB aluminum alternator pulley is underdrive, just the main pulley. AFAIK.

You should upgrade to an fd alternator while your at it..

The RB pulley IS underdrive, I had one. And the UD main pulley. And lots of charging problems...
