Maybe running a little too lean, timing, sensors...

lean? i think it would be rich. to much gas, not all of it burning, then when it comes out the tail pipe the o2 in the air causes it to ignite.

ITs running rich, all 7's do this.

Make sure both sets of plugs are giving a nice, hot spark. How well does it pull under full throttle? I think some backfiring when you quickly come off the throttle is normal. When does it backfire? All the time, or just in certain circumstances?

BTW, my T2 doesn't backfire! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

my gxl only did it after i took the cat out.

like R45 said unburnt fuel igniting.

yeah, running really rich, when i flood and i have to tow start it sounds like a buncha shotgun blasts as the car backfires, some serious poping, and bangs! I usually get a flame with my backfires, but once in awhile it will backfire and i will get a burst of acceleration....i feel like the bat mobile....i think it blows up the carbon in my exhaust and lets my turbo breathe..heh... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif
