I've heard that adding a teaspoon of Auto tranny fluid to each rotor is supposed to help compression a lot, has anyone tried this? To me it just sounds like a stupid trick that either won't work or will work for 2 minutes. Aren't those types of oils bad for rotaries since they don't burn off>

its an old school trick, and many have said it works, I did it i did notice a difference.

The way I understand it you should only use it on a very flooded engine.

Adding any oil to an engine will momentarily increase the compression and may make it easier to start a tired engine that has been flooded. This is a similar procedure, but done for a different reason (starting the car).



The ATF trick is done to attempt to improve engine performance.

My understanding is that the ATF supposedly loosens carbon deposits which may bind the various seals in the combustion chamber and keep them from sealing as well as they should. The ATF should be added and left in the engine for 24 hours. Read the FAQ.

there is actually an old bulletin on the atf trick. if you have an engine that is not driven hard and sits, it is possible for a piece of carbon to flake off and sieze the engine. you put a teaspoon or capfull of atf in the engine and let it sit and they use the special tool to unstick the motor.

putting oil in the chambers will also help a tired or very flooded engine.

if your engine is healthy and running properly it wont help you

As always, let it sit for a day to get the full effects. Bring along some extra spark plugs in case the old ones foul up too badly and leave you on the side of the road. Or just bring a wire brush to clean them and the tools to pop the plugs out. Whatever's clever.

I always advise for the Marvel Oil myself instead of ATF
