Ok I have a jspec 88TII motor that I just put in my 88GTU. My question is It will be a little bit before I plug in the wire harness so should I put ATF in the motor to clean it out? I was all for it but I read a post by some one that said not to, so what is every ones experiences with it and I dont wanna hear about your brothers, friends, uncles, grandpas car! ACTUAL EXPERIENCES with doing this! thanks

I put it in my n/a. Made it slightly faster. The only problem I experienced was the incredible amount of smoke it produced, I was afraid the fire dept would get called. I don't know about a t2, but I can't think of a reason why it would damage it.

ATF is all good!

other options are MMO and 2 stroke oil, both of which are intended to be combusted, some people prefer these over ATF. ATF will work better for cleaning up carbon deposits, but I'm not sure how well it reacts with the rubber oil seals, not sure if I'd want to let it sit soaking too long. MMO and 2 stroke however shouldnt pose any problems.

there are a ton of rubber seals inside a automatic tranny...wont hurt it a bit..

MMO is just as good of a detergent i hear though...why not both? wont hurt.

i read on rx7 club...a link to aaron cakes web page....about atf eating away at side seals...i find that nuts...vosko you should talk to judge ito about this.....i wanna know from someone with the experience of God with rotaries....

ECKO1980 01-28-2003 01:37 AM

Yeah I read that thing by aaroncake too and that is what got me thinking, I think tommorow im just gonna call up all the rotary shops around me and see what they say ie: Hayes, Atkins, Mazdatec, Pineapple and corksport. Its a jspec and I want to do all I can to make sure this fucker works! lol The jspec was my cheepest option for converting my N/A to TII.

i think if its gonna be sitting a little oil wouldnt hurt, but it doesnt really help much the metering pump already has coated everything with oil for you. the best thing to do is to turn the engine over periodically

judge ito uses ATF. if it can bring back engines from the dead it's a good thing. i've never heard of ATF doing anything bad besides making a shitload of smoke https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Ok, heres my opinion on atf. If you think its going to break down carbon, your wrong. Go soak a coked up rotor in ATF for a week and see how well it works. The best way to de-carbon a rotary is to drive it, and tach it out periodically. ATF can help free stuck seals and build compression temporarily, but everything in moderation. One capfull per rotor is enough, dont toss half a bottle in the motor thinking more is better.
