Don't flame me. I know there is an FAQ on it.

Car starts fine this morning, like it normally does. Does the accelerated warm up start up to 3k rpm, then drops to 1800rpm in about 10 seconds. Then I get up and go at about 1k rpm. Everything is fine. She pulls like it normally does. About 500 feet away from work it starts to sputter, jerks back real hard, and just wants to die. But I just tell her nicely and rub her dash "Cmon baby, just 50 more feet and you then you can stall out". Well, it does exactly that. She wants to start, but just keeps spinning and spinning. I am pretty sure that it is flooded. It has plenty of fuel, 87 to be exact, Mobil One 15W50. Plenty of coolant.

It has never smoked out of ordinary. Just normal smoke up when started, does not smell sweet like coolant. Just unburnt fuel, and regular exhaust smell. I do know that my coolant seals are starting to go, but slowly. It has slight champagne bubbles. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I am going to try EGI Fuse removal kick over for 30 seconds then put back in and restart. If that does not help, I will do the ATF trick in the housings.

My question you ask? I need to know how much ATF? Just a teaspoon of it, tablespoon? And they go in all 4 spark plug locations, correct?

Oh yes, my car is an 88 N/A. 168,xxxk miles on it. I already know I need a rebuild from the coolant seals, and it is sucking up alot of oil from time to time.

Thanks in advance folks.

-Justin

Edit- Sometimes when started, I don't wait for it to warm up, I just wanna go if I am in a rush. When stopping it drops down to 200rpm-300rpm, and sometimes dies on me. Any clue what is doing this? Just not letting it warm up?

I wouldn't be doing the ATF trick just to unflood...if that's really the problem. Sounds like something else is wrong since it ran ok and then stalled while running. It may be flooded now that it's stalled, but I'd be more concerned with why it did that in the first place. I'd check fuel and spark...fuel filter, plugs, wires, dizzy, etc. Always start simple...the ATF trick should be a LAST resort...especially if your collant seals are going (ATF is mildly corrosive...that's how it breaks up carbon and whatnot).

Ahhh. Good to know. Thanks.

Should I try the EGI trick first? Just to get it home. It is parked in a parking lot away from home right now. Real pain in the ass.

Thanks for the help.

Oh, plugs are brand new, and the old ones did not show any black or other discolaration. Just white. And I checked all the wires. Those are the first things I checked. But I am thinking you are right about the fuel pump.

I would also pull off the Idle air control motor and check for debris in it, they carbon up over time. remove the air intake hose and check to see that the bottom of your butterflies are also not carbined up and nasty, you can clean it all with carb cleaner.

The EGI trick won't hurt anything to try it so it's worth a shot.

Cool. I will try the EGI trick just to get it home and then I will crack into it more.

Idle air control motor? Where is that? And what is it?
