I know that I need an Air:Fuel gauge to hook up to my O2 sensor. But from there what am I going to do? If I am to lean it out a little bit to get more horsepower, where on the gauge am I not going to go past? Pics and input are apprectiated.

It really depends on the gauge you use. The only real way to tune is to get a wide band. The narrow bands only can tell you if your going towards lean or towards rich, not exact.
You really gotta do it by feel. Just play with it and dont lean it out too much that you detonate. |
What would be a good wide band sensor, and where could I get one?
|
on an na you sorta dont need one, detonation isnt a problem.
http://www.rx-7parts.com/product_info.php/...products_id/268 thats the best wideband, as an alternative you could tune the car on the dyno |
So if I dont need one, do I just get an aftermarket one and use that with the o2 sensor?

I really dont want to spend that much right now b/c I just got the S-AFC, and that left a hole in my pocket as it was. So, by getting an A:F ratio gauge, and by the butt dyno, I can tune it with out having any problems, or am I going to risk the chance of detonation?
|
your butt is not calibrated for air/fuel ratios...
Spend the money now (wideband) or spend more later (new rebuild) |
Is there an eaiser way to tune the S-AFC? That is what I am asking, can I use an Autometer Air:Fuel ratio gauge or do I need to get a wide band O2 sensor?

couldnt you take it to a dyno and have it tuned by their wideband?
|
Well, the problem with taking it to have it dynoed, is that there are none by me in upstate new york (10 min. outside of albany). So I am SOL with that. But if you know of any near albany, or near/around NYC, I would appreciate the input. Otherwise, I will have to spend the money on buying a wide band O2 sensor. Any one know where there are cheaper ones than the one @ rx-7parts.com?
|
Do I need a new specific O2 sensor when I get the wide band kit?
|
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/
it is the cheapest most accurate unit on the market, and the O2 sensor is included with it (same as the link above, this is the companies website) |
Hmm. Not a bad price to do data logging also. We sell the PLX Deviceswideband controller. They are a really nice unit for the price. They have a new unit coming out soon that is wireless and also does datalogging. A bit expensive for those because they are wireless (almost 2x as much).
I didnt realize it we were talking about a NA untill I saw his name. All I can say is that I wish I had bought a wideband a long long time ago. |
