I have the Apexi N1 Dual exhaust. I've noticed it catches so much attention and the droning is a little too much for me. I'm thinking of selling it for $400. It has only been used for 2 full tanks of gas (approx. 250 miles). In it's place, I was thinking of going Racing Beat Full exhaust. How does the Racing Beat compare to the Apexi? Sound? Performance? Build quality? Just those general questions. Thanks for the help.

RotaryManRX7 06-17-2002 06:31 AM

Well I am running racing beats full exhaust and love it. I have there header, pre-silcener, and cat-back. The tone is great, kind of quite at idle, and not too loud until you really get on it. In the upper revs, it starts to get loud. It doesn't seem very loud in the car though, even tough I have been told that people can hear my car about a half a mile away and it doesn't drone much on the interstate. Over all I am really happy with the exhuast.

RotaryManRX7 06-17-2002 06:32 AM

O sorry I just saw that you have a turbo, so I dunno if my post helped or not, sorry.

turborotor 06-17-2002 09:23 AM

You didn't get the silencers with it? I consider mine very quite with the silencers on and no droning. THis system with the silencers on is much quieter than my dyno max system I had on before.

the racing beat is quieter but if you run the silencers like turborotor said it should be quiet enough. i'm running an apexi n1 single and its loud as hell but i like it loud https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

The RB system's quality and performance are very good. The 50-60 HP increase that they advertise is the real thing. The thing that keeps the system pretty quiet is the presilencer.

Infini IV 06-17-2002 03:18 PM

Well since the Apexi with the silencers don't really help me GAIN power, I thought it defeats the purpose. The thing is, I don't really mind the loudness, but every cop in every city I drive in does. Oh yea, is the Racing Beat one really a Ful exhaust as in turbo-back? If so, is there no catalytic converter? Wouldn't that make it really loud?

The Racing Beat system is turbo back:

It has a presilencer which quiets things down a great deal.

Shane.Trammell 06-18-2002 12:24 PM

Did that say 50 to 60 hp increase?? I know that cant be right.

sidewinderx7 06-18-2002 12:35 PM

from what i've heard from people who have the turbo back system its true. The power increase is awesome. They say 32% increase, which is about 50-60hp ... Never heard anything different even from people who have it.

*has 600 or his 750 for the rb turbo back*

*waits for his next paycheck*

then i can tell you first hand https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

My buddy had the N1 Dual on his '91 T2 and it was pretty loud when you got on it. What do you have in front of the N1? Stock? Downpipe, etc? If I were you, just keep the N1 setup and get the silencers for it. If you don't have anything in front of it, go w/ a racing beat dp and ps and you'll be fine. I have the RB downpipe and ps on my GTX right now...its hella HELLA loud..oh wait, I don't have a catback yet..maybe thats why https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Rotaryman88 06-18-2002 12:55 PM

As for the HP gains from RB..they are legit. There systems frees up like 3 to 4 psi of boost and that alone is worth its weight in gold! I think they claimed like 2 to 3 psi, but I've seen a stock '87 T2 with JUST the RB turbo back exhaust and it was pushin 10.5 psi easy!

vosko 06-18-2002 01:46 PM

my 89 TII with RB 3" dp, custom 3" mp and apexi n1 catback ran atleast 11psi with the occasional spike to 13-14 psi. i just love the exhaust note of my exhaust. can't wait to get my car running again very soon

Yes, it's true, but it's accompanied by an increase in boost. That helps with the power increase.

On my old TII I added the RB downpipe/presilencer combo, and I noticed that my clutch started slipping afterwards. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

The full dual from Mazdatrix is supposed to give 20-30 HP on a stock motor.

You can get aluminum adapters made by Earls or Aeroquip if you don't want the brass adapters that RB sells.

Why not order from Mazdatrix? They have the same prices. Maybe they'll give you a deal if you're from the forum.
