I have a 86 gxl i just swaped a motor into, the motor runs really strong. The one thing it does do is very weird how it overheats. I can drive it around town for hours in town and the temp guage would be normal temp. I would take it on the high ways the heat would raise from 1/4 of the way to half way, when i would slow down from doing about 80 (consistant speed) then the guage would starn moving not creeping to hot. I never let it get really hot about 3/4 of the way up. Some times it would give me symptoms of a blown motor with the blow back out of the resivor bottle. It has a new thermostat, cooling systems been flushed, 2 e-fans 1pushes and 1 pulls they are both are wired on a relay and turns on as the car does, the heater core is good and radiator doesnt leak, there is new coolant in the whole system.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO TO HELP ME OUT PLZ!!!

mine had similar symptoms (inconsistent overheating). I would put block seal in it and it would stop for 2-3 weeks, then return. That motor no longer runs...

i followed arrons instructions and thats how i hooked up the fans and they are both working perfectly. Well the question behind the block seal, what brand did you use and did you do over 400 mi driving on it. The coolant level is perfect and i used a spill free funnel to remove ALL the air pockets. Water pump is brand new and working fine so is the thermostat. Like i said the car would not overheat in town with normal driving, i hit the highway it would be fine doing 80 consistantly but once i slow down from there the car starts to overheat

is the stock underpan on?

when my car was turbo'd, it ran fine until one day it just kept overheating on the highway. i didnt have the underpan in. I took off the bumper cause i was an hour away from home and made it.

once i got home i put the underpan on and no more problems.
