i made a post on here a few months back id make something similar to the KS hood for the fc. Its for a local guy and ill have some pics of it painted soon, and guys can you give me some opinions on the rear vents. And yes rob I used all mat this time, MUCH BETTER.

turborotor 02-01-2004 03:12 AM

g_dripht-alex 02-01-2004 04:19 AM

mm, nice how much?

sidewinderx7 02-01-2004 04:25 AM

very very nice

BlackHeart702 02-01-2004 04:39 AM

that hood is awesome, nice workmanship man. I'd totally be interested if they're for sale in the future.

Rob x-7 02-01-2004 12:16 PM

glad to see things going smoother for you, those red marks

arent magic marker are they? BIGGGGG no-no using magic

marker on FG.

dltreezan 02-01-2004 03:20 PM

ill sel for 400 a shot if anyone wants one when i get it done, and yes i used a magical marker, but i used acetone to wipe it away, its going to get primed the hell out of and painted anyhow, BUT since it is a big no no and i dont know why can u please explain the properties of why it is bad so i can steer clear from it and anything similar? Thanx, and guys any technical opinions about the vents and so forth?

rotary_revolution_0 02-01-2004 03:36 PM

Approx. how much does the hood weigh? I'm watching my weight......... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

dltreezan 02-01-2004 05:04 PM

this one is very light....15 pounds max.....thats why i am steering away from a full replica underside, makes it too heavy

4RotorRocket 02-01-2004 05:11 PM

Looks very nice so your gonna add more vents right?Post a pic of the finished product on a TII and I may just buy one from you. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif

dltreezan 02-01-2004 09:48 PM

no more vents are going to be added and if it will fit over the TMIC then i beleive you can put it on a t2

teknics 02-01-2004 09:51 PM

Id highly consider this when i do all my bodywork and painting late this summer, ill no longer have the TMIC so it will be fine.

kevin.

dltreezan 02-01-2004 11:25 PM

Looking good dude. I really wish that my schedual didn't get changed AGAIN, so its looks like there will be no free time on the week end. DAMNIT, good luck though, and I really need to get my ass in gear and atleast mess aroudn with FG.

even wiped off and sanded, primed, painted it can show thru, fiberglass is

like that. We once had a guy who while he was sanding a boat he

had marked the side of the boat where he wanted to do light bodywork,

so he wiped, sanded, did bodywork, and we primed and painted

the boat not knowing he had used the magic marker. Well, low and

behold when we were all done and we pulled it out into the sun sure

enough there was all these arrows and circles where he had marked it

up showing right thru the dark blue paint.

Use a china marker, its like a crayon.

sidewinderx7 02-03-2004 06:21 AM

lol.. i bet that guy was smacking himself for that one.

dltreezan 02-03-2004 10:18 AM

china marker it is.....i will not be smacking myself, did you try chemotherapy?https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.....and justin we can figure something out...maybe friday or something cuz i wanna show you this stuff, not just the fg but also the urethane foam and how to make door panels

sidewinderx7 02-03-2004 03:50 PM

dude, make some affordable fiberglass lightweight doors that work and look like stock, and i will buy them from you.

dltreezan 02-04-2004 12:27 AM

lool i just had the stupidest idea in the world....reverse cowl induction doors.....in all reality i think it would be a great idea but i wonder about safety and how much weigh would be saved

sidewinderx7 02-04-2004 01:06 AM

lol.. what purpose would they serve? :-p

sidewinderx7 02-04-2004 02:28 AM

man, i live in washington! I dont need anymore cold air in my car! :-p

Baldy 02-04-2004 07:54 AM

lookin' good!

in the first pic, what is that in the far left corner of the hood? is that another small vent, or is the lighting just weird?

Comitatus 02-04-2004 08:50 AM

I would take one in the future....Ill be in the market for hoods soon...looks great man...

dltreezan 02-04-2004 01:16 PM

yes those are vents in the corners, the lighting sucks so its hard to tell...ill post better pics when i get it done, and im really thinking of keeping this one for myself. As far as the doors go i was joking about the reverse cowl part, it would serve no function but to look rediculous, LOOOL a DMIC, another stupid idea. I like the idea of an FG door, but Im finally getting this hood thing on lock down, Im not going to push my luck for now.

sidewinderx7 02-04-2004 02:43 PM

good call. Will these hatches lock down or need hood pins? I hate hood pins :(

dltreezan 02-05-2004 12:52 AM

hood pins ALL the way!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR Im selling the prototype to someone else now.........so next project will be a spoiler....nothing ricey, just a modifeid version of the sport spoiler with a modern twist....

You could use them as some sort of brake coolers like the old shelbys had

Dramon_Killer 02-08-2004 10:15 PM

You need to make a spoiler like the one that i have.
