Alright, just a simple question first. Could you port a 13B Turbo II? I have an 87 and all I keep hearing around here is "port, port, port". But, it only seems like people are porting N/A's...Sorry I really don't know too much about the rotary engine or any engine for that matter yet, but I'm learning. I don't race it or anything like that, just lookin to get it nice and fast. I've thought about eventually getting a 20B, but my 13's only got 37k miles on it! Also, has anyone seen this "turbo upgrade" on eBay? It's just a turbo manifold, but a little bigger than stock. The dude's selling them for less than $100 I think. I may eventually buy a Greddy turbo upgrade, but thought I'd consider this first seeing as how I can't afford a turbo upgrade at the moment. I guess I'm just lookin for the best mods on a Turbo II. All I've done so far is put an entire new exhaust on (corksport downpipe, borla split rear) and a pulley kit to eliminate the air pump. If you can indeed port a Turbo II, what does it do? I'd imagine make it more efficient and smoother, but I really have no clue. I've read quite a bit about it, but all of you guys already know what the deal is so it doesn't help out a newbie that much. I'd really appreciate as much info as you guys could give me. Alright, the only way to port an engine is to pull it out of the car, break it apart, and then port it.



20b conversion will cost you 8K or more to do.



The turbo manifold on ebay, if its the one that uses the stock turbo, just makes it tubular. Not much of an upgrade, but it does help spool it quicker. If its the one that uses the T4 flange, you need to do a whole new turbo system.



Porting the engine does make it more efficient, increases the volumetric efficiency, and it can be smoother, depending on the size and style of port. It can create overlap which is like installing a larger cam. Basically, larger the port, larger the cam.

Yeah, I'm talkin about the one that goes to the stock turbo. Spooling quicker sounds good to me, plus its cheap so...why not? As for porting, I'll check out this site and get some more information. Yeah, the 20B is gonna run some major dough...but hopefully I'll be able to do it eventually. Driving it non-winters with only 37k so far, so I'll have plenty of time. They are cheap and will likely break, before you install it sent it to a shop, and have braces welded on the high stress areas, or do it yourself.
