Is an aluminum hood worth the 40 bucks and the trouble to repaint? The hood I have now will need some work anyway. Sure does feel light!

hell yeah... $40 is a good deal if its dent/rust free. I think the weight savings is 25-30 lbs.

pour Coke in a steel cup, and see what happens.

Now take an Al can, with coke in it, and see how long it lasts. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

all metals oxidize, as banzai mentioned...Al forms a white powder, right?

UniqueTII 07-18-2003 12:54 PM

Yeah, Al forms a white powder and the metal turns black. Take some Liquid Plumbr (anything with sodium hydroxide in it) and put a can in there...don't breathe the fumes!!!
