Almost Got This D@m$ Tranny Mount
#1
Well as some of you know I have been stuggling with my tranny mount for the last 2 months, and it has costed me more than I paid for the tranny($150).Well I cut the broken bolts out of the tranny, after trying several tools to remove them, welding the mount, Jb welding the mount, and fabricating a custom mount. Well ofcourse the holes aren't perfectly lined up so i bored the holes on the Y section out really big, then just use washers with the bolts. So I finally got around to tapping the new tranny bolt holes on the tranny. Worked like a charm on the first side, then on the other side the tap only went in half way, so i took it out and retried, the next thing I know the damn thing is changing directions, ends up all the threads get cut away, back to a hole. So i bored it out to a 10mm hole with my metric 3/8 metal bit, anticipating some more bullshit with this last Sat i had picked up several other sizes, so I was in luck. Tapped it again, worked, but the threads weren't that tight, the hole was a tad bigger than i wanted it to be cuz i had only standard metal bits.So i bolted the crossmember to the chassis. I was able to get the bigger bolt and washer in, I was damn amazed, so its 1/2 done. I tried the other side but its blocked by the tranny so you can't get anything in there. So i played with it for over an hour freezing my *** off, using a needle nose pliers to try and hold the bolt and start it into the hole, well didn't work, try again later. This mount has been a bigger bitch than dropping in the new motor, and wiring the haltech. And if this used tranny doesn't work, I'm going to have a mental breakdown.
