I am looking at getting a new set of engine mounts. I have looked in the market and I have found two main alternatives to the stock rubber.



1. Banzai Racing's 90A Durometer Red Polyurethane Mounts



AND



2. MMR's Black Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene



From what I can tell the Banzai Racing's Polyurethane mounts are the same as the Energy Suspension Bushing Sets. Polyuerthane is has been used in the automotive industry for quite a while as a alternative to Rubber. It is proven to be more durable than rubber at a sacrifice of firmness as it is a harder material than conventional rubber (as used in Stock or OEM mounts and bushings). Also due to the resistance to break down by exposure to oils is another great attribute. BUT, when looking at MMR's Polyethylene mounts, which is actually a harder material and it's actually a bit cheaper. It's hard to make a decision. I've done some searching on UHMW Polyethylene, but haven't found to many applications in the automotive industry except for small tires. I was wondering if anybody has knowledge on this material and whether it is superior to the proven Polyurethane mounts?

I'm not real familar with any of this, but is there a durometer rating for choice #2?

Anyone Have any info as to the Durometer Hardness of the MMR Mounts? They seem like more of a Plastic, if anything!

If you could find a set of Dragon's FD engine mounts then go for it. A tad taller, but not enough to make a difference. Solid military grade aluminum = happiness. Jerk tested, girlfriend approved (she digs NVH and rotaries https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ). It's really not for candyasses. There will be NO extra movement. A must with the Supernow (or equivalent) tranny bushings. They make for some confident shifts.



I've seen bushing sent in by MMR. High quality stuff. Fit fine the first time around. Years back I went with Energy Suspension bushings all around. Good, but not enough for me. I thought Delrin would be too much, but it's really not. But such things are entirely relative. This time around I'm going with Delrin, UHMW, heim joints, or whatever the hardest I can find. It's really not that bad once you get used to it. To hell with the passengers opinions if they don't like it. If they're not financing your car then their feelings are useless.



Anything polyurethane is one step above the Mazdaspeed bushings. Those in turn are just barely above the plain rubber bushings. If you have stock rubber bushings that came with the car, then they are 100% garbage by now. Replace them.
