I am going to be starting on my new project, an 91 TII. I was just wondering what aftermarket engine management systems, like the haltech, actually come with. Do they come with a wiring harness specific for your vehicle, or just a bundle of wires and you have to rig the vehicles stock connectors onto it? Just wondering?

If you are interested in a Microtech Engine Management System, go to www.BR7racing.com or www.microtechefi.com and read up on them. Let me know if you have any questions...

this month or last month's turbo mag featured a nice lineup of different standalones, talkin bout their features and included components, check it out.

if you buy it with the harness/sensors/connectors, it usually comes with a 'flying lead' harness, meaning an unterminated bundle of wires coming off a large gang connector that plugs into the standalone ECU. This

is the most common way the standalones are provided. In this situation you have to route the wiring yourself, cut it to length, and crimp on the connectors for your new sensors (or if you go the icky-hackish route, splice it into your original wiring/connectors to use your old sensors).

It really depends on the dealer you get your ECU from, some will include everything, some just include the ECU, manual, and flying lead harnesss... then everything after that is additional. Some will include all that and some required sensors (coolant temp, intake temp, and TPS) but charge extra for the MAP sensor...

if you can afford it I recommend going at least with haltech or electromotive, the few people I've talked to who have owned a microtech AND another standalone like a haltech have said the microtech is cheap and like a toy compared to the competition. I have a haltech and it's pretty damn nice.

our entertainment at sevenstock was watching the mike-rotech guys try to start their cars cold.
