ok, i've noticed this in my car.. every once in a while the add coolant light comes on.. so i add coolant.. but the part that gets me is that sometimes it will not come on for a week or two.. or a month.. then suddenly it comes on.. I add water.. drive it somewhere.. or for my daily duties.. then the next mornin its on again.. so i add coolant.. maybe a couple of days in a row.. then it stops.. and runs good again.. for a while.. week or two.. and starts buggin again.. so if im losin water.. why so inconsistent? any good places to start trouble shooting?

Similer Story:

My water pump started leaking out of the weep hole a long time ago... I kept adding coolant and kept an eye on the temps until I was ready to swap another in. Then one day, it stopped leaking. That was about 2 months ago. I havent lost any coolant since. The pump seems to have fixed itself.

Torque the bolts on your water housing. Check rad overflow hose for cracks.

The cooling system can suck in air while its cooling down after you shut the engine off.

well the other mornin i turned the car on and proceeded to open the hood and add water.. i looked around.. and the hose to the thermowax was wet right at the tip.. where it clamps on.. so i figure maybe there.. but it was not leakin bad.. but maybe once under pressure.. ill check it out and see about the other suggestions too.

yeah i had the same thing but i check my fluids and everything is fine. I think its the sensor on top of the radiator that is correded or not grounded properly causing the ADD COOLANT light to come on from time to time
