ok, I got the plate today (thanks banzai, it fits!). The acv went on with 2 bolts, and one nut. I see how I could cut the bolts down, so they hold the plate in place, but what about the one nut? On the shaft that it threads on, the threads end way before the plate. Do I need some kind of large spacer?









and I got the alternator on, but the belts are slightly different. one's tighter (the guy could only find these 2 in the store). I tightened it as much as I could, so the second belt had some tension. Guess I'll wait and see if the tighter one snaps https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif . Also, I keep having problems with the plug in the back of the alternator. Is there an easy way to replace it? My wires get shorter every time I do something under the hood (you know, cut crimp, slip...cut, crimp, slip...). and I've already used the plug off the parts car (the original had the wires yanked clean out).

regarding the belts, just run one belt until you can get two identical ones.



you don't want to have alot of tension which it sounds like you have on the smaller belt to get good tension on the larger one, it will overload the bearings... and that kindof sucks considering the dual belt pulley actually lets you run a pretty lax belt tension due to the increased contact surface area.





not sure about the wires, I havent had a problem with that... it's kindof a pain to replace that power wire, it's nestled inthere with the rest of the power harness junk.

well, I can crimp new wires coming out fo the harness, but on the plug end is where it's getting shorter....I was just wondering if there's a place I could get a plug; or if it's generic, or whether or not I have to go to a dealership or junkyard.....

About the bolts for the acv, you can remove the stud that uses the nut. I think mine came with new bolts from RB that I used. The stud is easy to remove with some locking pliers.... just a quick visit to the hardware store and you should be able to get some short hex socket screws that will work nicely.



just be careful with that one, it's a shallow hole, if you get screws for it make sure they're pretty short.



BTW, all the plates I've gotten from K2RD came with screws, washers, and even the allen wrench to install them with.... and all that at very cheap prices. Hunting for screws in hardware stores sucks.

the alternator connector is pretty generic, they use it a lot on the 1st gens.

with your nuts you can either use a washer, another nut thats bigger, or pull it out and get a bolt, i think its 6x1.25 but im not 100% about the thread pitch.

ok, thanks for the tips. I went to lowe's before they closed, and got some shorter bolts for the lower 2 holes. They fit perfectly. For the top stud, I got a spacer, then used the stock nut. I put lock washers on all 3, and used gasket sealant under the plate. It ran great! I was actually surprised to find the metric parts I needed so quickly. Before they built the giant Lowe's nearby, the old one was so difficult to find anything metric. Hopefully I can find that plug before the next time I need to remove the alt.
