after 5 hours of strenuous labor -- stupid power steering made my life hell, the radiator didn't help either -- and its all gone. man, that compressor weighs a ton, and the condensor isn't a feather either. i have to say, that was the hardest thing i've ever done, no make that the most annoying.

oh well, its all worth it for the rewards: less weight and now i actually have access to my dipstick. that AC line was completely in the way. this might even help cool things off a little more and allow more air to the radiator, which is now buzzing, stupid air.

yup ac looks the best there. on the ground https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

RX7Aggie 06-08-2003 11:34 PM

yeah, everone's been giving me crap, saying stuff like "it's texas, dont you want AC" to which i reply "i have no torque, AC just drains it, i wouldn't use it anyway" lol.

my mom said "what if you have a date and the girl is wearing a nice silk dress", to which i replied "well, she better have a car with AC, and if so, then she's driving."

my windows work fine, i'll take the weight savings anyway.

nice! took you 5 hours tho? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

I noticed a drop in temps on the freeway, according to the stock gauge tho...

RX7Aggie 06-09-2003 08:23 AM

yeah, 5 hours. i spent waaayyyy to long on that stupid compressor, i was an act in itself fitting it in that narrow space between the wheel well, engine, and power steering pump. i also couldn't get my lower radiator tube off, so i had to leave it in while i yanked out the condensor.

oh well, its done!

Poluting my world...

Do us a favor, take all the stuff you removed and weigh it.

See what type of weight savings you really got from all that.

1. using an AC system only uses more gas, polluting the world.

2. all the freon was already leaked out, so none went into the environment

3. i take it you have not felt how heavy an AC compressor is. unless my scales are off (simply comparetive between the compressor and the weights i lift at the gym), that thing has to weight at least 25 lbs, and the condensor 5-10 lbs. so i exaggerated, still, ~35 lbs is a lot, do that in enough places, and you save a lot of weight on a car.

you think they shaved hundreds of pounds off the FD by saying "its only a couple of pounds, leave it on"? nope. and yes i will pollute your world, along with the coolant that i changed and leaked on the ground and my complete lack of emissions components. your world is boring and slow, mine is fast and invigorating.

one more thing, even if i pollute this world, i'm the one who has to smell it. afterall, i have no AC, i have to drive with my windows down, smelling all that smog, you dont. so quit crying and get a job for Honda.

i didn't work, had no freon, and i doubt its any good any more. i ripped half the stuff out since the places were too crammed to fit my tools in. its in the trash now.

Drifter101 06-09-2003 11:27 PM

Everytime i see one of these threads im glad that my 87 NA already had it removed https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png, so does your car feel lighter?

Geoffman72 06-09-2003 11:30 PM

I weighed all the AC **** together off my TII minus condenser and it was 55lbs or something sick.

FrestyleFC3S 07-28-2003 03:48 PM

im about to do this: aggie make me a write up

UniqueTII 07-28-2003 04:03 PM

Writeup:

AC system is held on with bolts. Remove bolts. Remove AC system.

Sure, I'm an ass, but it's about that easy.

banzaitoyota 07-28-2003 05:00 PM

I rather enjoy having AC, My temps never go above 1/2 and it blows nice and cold!

WishIhadaRX7 07-28-2003 05:49 PM

Now it's time to remove the power steering!

FrestyleFC3S 07-28-2003 11:35 PM

ah....thanks eddie...bastard
