i started reading the ac removal thread, and it mentioned unscrewing the red and green caps and emptying the system. well, i can't find any caps, but i found these two things which might be it, and i depressed them and nothing comes out...is this it?

Yep. Thats one of them. That's the low side fill port I believe. The other one is under the intake snorkel.

Thx for all the info guys...I finished just a couple hours ago, and boy am I tired!

Here's the writeup I followed:

Here's my complications I ran into:

If you don't want to use bolt cutters, you're going to have a heck of a time unscrewing some of these nuts to disconnect the pipes. For the ones going into the firewall, even after using some penetrating stuff, I couldn't break it. In fact, I actually started bending the metal of the pipes, to the point that they're probably useless from now on. Once I can get some bolt cutters I'm going to just cut them right near the firewall.

As for removal of the ac cooler, it was VERY tough. Since I didn't cut the inlet and outlet, I had to do a lot of wiggling and nudging to finally get it out. I bent a couple fins on both the radiator and oil cooler in the process, but i think the damage was negligible.

I enjoy the newfound space in my engine bay, though. I'm hoping this helps with my overheating problem.

Here's what I pulled out....it weighs quite a bit...wish I had a scale.
