Ok, ive got the AC dryer/evaporator and the compressor off, the last thing is the condensor. According to the haynes manual, you need to take the radiator and a bunch of other stuff out of the car to get it out. Is there an easier way? After spending 4 hrs trying to get a stripped bolt off of the compressor, im sick of the AC on this car. Weight-wise, is it even worth it to remove the condensor?

Oh, this is on an 88 NA

um i think it comes out toward the front? you prolly can do it by unbolting the radiator, and scooching it forward

The condenser is aluminum and very light, as I recall. No way to it other than removing the radiator. I did remove the one on the parts car and sold it to the scrap man. I never have taken it off the T2 because I just don't think it's worth the time.

i would remove it for better airflow over your radiator, if for no other reason

I never removed the rad to get the condensor core out. Take off the under belly plastic tray. Then take off the coolant overflow tank and the hood latch bracket. You then ahve access to all the bolts that hold the condensor on. remove the Efan. Then slide it out from the top.

Ok, great, thanks... project for tomorrow then

yea, Ill let you know how it goes, im heading out to get that sucker out now... on that note, anyone need AC parts?

Worked wonderfully... In fact, you dont even need to take the undertray off, just all the stuff between the rad support and bumper support: coolant overflow bottle, hood latch, and AC drier/evaporator Then there are just 6 bolts (4 on brackets, 2 on the actual condensor, altho i dont know if these two need to be removed, i did just in case) that are easily accessable, and you're done. It'll tilt forward and slide right out the top
