If you have ABS on a turboII is there a small black box attached on the standard ecu?

My car has had a auto to manual conversion, and I have been told it has ABS and the light was not working.

So pulled the idiot panel out and there was no light bulb for the ABS, I replaced the bulb and now when I drive the ABS light stays on?

Does this mean I need the ecu with ABS?

there is a separate "control box" for the ABS if im not mistaken on the drivers side around the pedals. Alot of people do away with ABS and just put in a brake proportioning valve.

I had ABS on my car. The pump was leaking. A new pump costs $2400. I ripped the bitch out and re-plumbed the car with non-ABS lines and put in a non-ABS master cylinder.

I also removed an ABS computer that was located under the passenger side footwell near the ECU as I recall. This had a pretty good wad of wires going to the pump. As far as I know, there is nothing ABS specific about the ECU itself.

If this is all you need, I would be happy to sell it to you--it's from an 88 T2, but I would urge you to check and make sure that all the other ABS components (ABS pump & wheel sensors) are present and in good order.

Also, I don't believe they made any T2's with an auto tranny.

No, it means you have a fault in your ABS system. You will need to take it to the dealer to pull the codes out.

It sounds like the PO had an ABS problem & just pulled the bulb.

I pulled my ABS pump & controller when I swapped in the J-spec.

The mother was heavy!

Then soon afterwards, flat spotted the tires trying to miss a dog.
