well now,

i finally got my new map sensor from the mechanic (when he opened the hood and put it in i almost fell over it was so simple https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif) but on the way up there my car decided to run a little hot. no prob i though these things prolly run warm on long road trips anyway right - wrong, after telling him the prob he said i might need a new coolant cap and that i should upgrade to an electric fan. so its not to bad right - wrong after i got back i rested for a while and then decided to get somthing to eat w a friend. we head out in my car b/c its cool and i catch a wheel going to second kewlness right - wrong as soon as we hit the next stop sign the low coolant buzzer came on  (luckly enough we were right next to arbys) so i pulled in and shut her off. come to find out that i had a leaking coolant hose and pushing the engine made it worse so now my car needs a new hose and it is at arbys https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, get a new hose. It can't be much more than $10-$15, and if you're good it should take you about 10 min. to replace. Then I'd drive to the auto parts store, and buy all new hoses (except for the one you replaced), and put them on too. Rotaries don't like heat.

phinsup 02-21-2002 11:35 PM

Yea get down there and replace it, that's cheap and easy. And while your at it snag one of the roast beef sandwiched with the fake cheese.

I hate that ****!

phinsup 02-21-2002 11:53 PM

Yea me too actually, although that red suace they have is pretty decent. Fake cheese is good from a can on Ritz if you have been.... well you know if you got the munchies.

Hell yeah! I could live off that ****. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

It's not the cheese that bothers me, but the fake meat that looks like some kind of compressed meat(SPAM?). Ever notice the green tint of the meat when you look at it a certian way?

Oh well, the curly fries and the BBQ sauce are good.

YucA 02-22-2002 08:20 AM

that happened to me one time, but it was cause my thermostat crapped out. i took a **** and a half...replaced it, and its all gravy.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i hope its not the one that goes from the heater core to the engine. ( the one that is above the tranny and goes down to the side of the block, by the spark plugs) its a real bitch, especially if ur car is stock.

Rob x-7 02-22-2002 03:46 PM

I had ordered all my hoses from MazdaTrik, one call did it all, they sent me all the OEM hoses, and it took all but a single phone call. Get yourself some good quality ALL stainless clamps, beware alot of stainless clamps have steel for the tightning screw. **** it and order yourself a set of OEM belts while you have them on the phone.

The Blue Bomber 02-22-2002 08:12 PM

alright,

today we looked at the car in day-light and found out it was a heater hose (one end next to the spark plugs and the other going into the firewall) so we cruised up to autozone, got the hoes and some coolant - this thing takes about 8 quarts wow - so after installing the hose, filling up the radiator (funny but i still have coolant left over) and grabing a jamoca shake we drove back. every thing was fine until i got back to the parking lot and the buzzer came on again, WTF. now im under over and around the car looking for a new leak but i cant find one. so im thinking thermostat and if not that i don't know what :dontgetit:.

unfortunately i dont have any more money to go buy a new thermostat (damn arbys) so i have to wait until my mom sends me some money. oh well stay tuned for part three of my rant.
The Blue Bomber cusses

ps i would like to upgrade to stainless or silicone coolant, vacuum, and other hoses any body got a good place to get them?

RX-Midget 02-23-2002 11:33 AM

The coolant level probably dropped because you had a air pocket in the cooling system. You shoud fill it up again and run the car EASY and keep an eye on your temp. After you drive around for a while, let it cool and then check the coolant level again. You may have to repeat, but after the 2nd time, it should stabilize.

BTW - turn the heater on while driving after fill up (fan does not need to be blowing, but coolant needs to circulate through heater core)

bigtime 02-23-2002 01:18 PM

i like arbys curly fries

The Blue Bomber 02-24-2002 07:06 PM

YEA!!!

after looking at the car somemore i finally found the leak. my friend had just put the hose on wrong and it had to be adjusted (if you want something done right, you're gonna have to pay). any way i also did the thing with the heater and recirculated the the coolant so its full now (and no buzzer yea  ) but my check engine light is still on i'm thinking that all i need to do is uplug the battery for awhile and let the ecu reset but im not to sure. anyway i will have more time to play with it tomorrow

and yes arbys curly fries are the bomb

my dad was tellin me about the ecu needin time to reset. Do our ecus need time to "reset" when we modd or 7's? I though only new cars would be smart enought for that...

90N/A Rex 02-24-2002 09:53 PM

I am not sure on 7's but most cars have to have their check engine light reset. It doens't do it automatically. I will look up the procedure to reset the ecu tommorrow at work on Alldata. What year is yours??

well dammit,

ok, so i checked the codes for the engine light and i got 11 (intake air thermo sensor), 12 (throttle sensor), and 13 (intake manifold pressure [MAP] sensor) so this is a real pisser. i unplugged the battery for about 4 mins mabey 5 and the check engine light is still on. and also i found a very new very small leak in my upper radiator hose :madgo: so now im just gonna replace all the hoses and be done with it. but as for the codes i have no idea. can anyone help my poor wittle seven?

The Blue Bomber is still cussing

I have a 8 month old TPS for a series 5 engine (89-91) if your interested I would get rid of for $100, costs $362 from mazda.

I don't need it now cuz I did engine swap
