We replaced the vacuum and coolant lines on Matt's '89 TII tonight, and it's still having all of the same problems. We checked the engine codes, and it came back with 30 Solenoid valve - split air bypass and 38 Solenoid valve - accelerated warm-up system and air supply valve, neither of which I know how to deal with. The good news is that his TPS code went away, but the car still runs rich enough to burn our eyes and has NO power. It idles fine, but we haven't checked the compression yet, so that still may be an issue. Anyone have any other ideas?

One thing that bothers me is that I could disconnect the O2 sensor while it was running and it wouldn't change anything, like it was in limp-home mode, but it didn't change after resetting the ECU.

does it rev normal etc ? maybe a fuel injector is stuck open ???

UniqueTII 10-20-2002 03:37 PM

It revs really slowly...I was thinking an injector could be stuck open, but how would you check that?

vosko 10-20-2002 04:00 PM

i don't know. might as well take out the injectors and have them cleaned and put in new orings..... that MIGHT be the problem..... maybe something to do with the fuel pump...hmmm

UniqueTII 10-20-2002 04:12 PM

Perhaps we should check the fuel pump voltage at idle, wot, etc...

Taking out the injectors would be too big of a deal, i guess. I'm just trying not to put Matt into the poor house with the rest of us...lol.

Plus I don't want him to have to keep driving what he's stuck with right now.

ROFLMAO!!!! if its flooding out.... sounds like a bad injector or two to me but who knows its an rx7 it could have 40 bad parts... maybe bad AFM ?

I have a brand new performance python fuel pump that I haven't put in yet. Should I try putting that in? It makes sence it is an injector seeing as how I was wraping on it pretty hard. 'Come on guys help me i'm having to drive a ricer honda untill I get Roxy going again!!! :rice:

If you have enough fuel to run rich I doubt your fuel pump is the problem.

your getting those codes because those are unplugged, i think the split air is on the acv, and aws is in the back of the manifold.
