Alright guys the title gives it all away i have a 88 t2 10th AE beautiful car cranks all day but refuses to fire.... checked spark and fuel and nothing. when i first turn the key to "ON" u can watch the tach twitch a tiny bit but besides that nothing
check your coils to see if they are good fuel might be clogged fuel filter unless your getting fuel but no spark making you think that there is no fuel
well i jumpered the fuel pump and i didnt hear it come on when i had the key turned to on.... and i already swapped coils once what are the chances of two being bad?
check and see if they are in spec its always good to check stuff and make sure instead of saying its good when it could be bad
well i have a spare 87 sitting outside as a parts car should i pull the coils off of it and try them on my 88t2? also the inital small bounce of the tach does that mean anything? and if it does is it a good something or bad something haha because it barley moves when switched to ON
idk if the coils from a t2 and a NA are different or not if they arent the yea try it if they are then just check them with a mulimeter (20 bucks at autozone)
lets see...
if there is no spark OR fuel, its likely either the CAS isnt working or the ecu is not getting power, as the ecu uses the CAS signal to fire BOTH the coils and the injectors. the fuel pump also is turned on with the CAS, although the jumper wire and key on, should have it running. soooOOOoooo, what to do? 1. check the fuses, there are a couple under the hood, which are probably fine, and there is one in the fuse box which is also prolly good, but you start with the basics! 2. if you have a spare CAS, plug it in, and spin it! you should be able to hear clicks, injectors make noise, the plugs make noise (if they dont you can put them somewhere where you can SEE them sparking, without getting zapped yourself. if you dont get anything, there is some fault with the CAS/cas wires/ecu/ecu power/main relay. 3. you get spark, and injector click. sounds like a fuel pump problem now? the circuit opening ( fuel pump in engrish) relay is over the drivers right leg... coils are the same 86-91 turbo and non, very rare ALL would be bad |
I appreciate all the help guys i thought i got this car pretty reasonable considering it is a true 10th ae
alright guys i put the fuel pump in from my other parts car and vuala i jumpered the fuel pump and didnt hear anything so i unplugged a fuel line at the pump and got drenched with fuel so theres one problem down....now its just an issue of spark
dont you just love getting gas all over the place just make sure you wash the engine area down so you dont get a fire going and frying your harness
