I had a little coolant leak from a missing nut, and thought the buzzing I was getting was due to it. There are no idiot lights on. I fixed the leak, filled the coolant, still getting the buzzer. Oil was changed two days ago, oil level is fine, so I don't think that's the buzzer, either. The only other recent modification I've done was to swap in an FD alternator. I thought maybe the alternator wasn't charging right, so I swapped the alternator from my 'vert to the T2. Not only did the buzzing not go away, now I have a new problem: The car kept running after I removed the key. I had to turn the engine off by removing the EGI fuse. Any ideas???

I had clipped the two wires that attach to the alternator and put female connectors on them to go on the FD alternator... If I connected them to the FC alt incorrectly, would that cause the continuous running problem?

try grounding the coolant level sensor to see if thats it, if that IS you can permanently ground it and it will stop buzzing. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

I am going to try switching the wires on the back of the alt to see if that eliminates the running problem.

I didn't have a chance to switch the wires tonight, but I did notice something... I turned the car to the "on" position without starting the motor to roll up the windows... After about 5 seconds, the coolant light went off and the buzzer sounded, so I think you're right and it is a coolant sensor problem.

take the sensor wire and touch it to metal. You may have to add a wire and a bullet conector to fit in the sensors' connector. Then just ground it out.

these sensors dont just randomly go bad, so i would never just "ground it out" to get rid off it.



you probably have some air in the system. when you filled it back up, did you fill the rad allt he way up then the neck? if you just fill from the neck itll look like its full but when you pop the rad cap its not full.



my car did the same thing, random coolant buzzer going off, and you know what, i was low on coolant in the rad but at the neck it looked okay. filled the rad all the way up, put the cap on, then filled it at the waterpump neck. problem solved.

the sensor has a purpose, dont get rid of it, thats idiotic.
