I threw a 89 engine in my 88 rx. Got everything to go together with original ECU and wiring harness except the oil metering pump. On my original 88 13b the oil metering pump was manual (with the rod connecting to the throttle), now on the new 89 engine the metering pump is electric! damn I wish I noticed b4. I have no place to plug the metering pump so I cant run my engine or it'll burn out. They told me I would have to get the ECU and wiring harness from the 89 so I did, but now If I change it one plug (from somewhere else in the car) that goes into the ECU doesnt fit and 2 plugs from the new wiring harness does not fit on the other plugs in my car. So basiclly Im stuck and have not a clue of what to do now. If what I have to do cannot be done and I have no choice but to run premix, how much oil do I have to put with a full tank of gas and what kinda oil? Is there a way I can get around this problem and use the electric metering pump? Please help me out this is urgent, I havnt even got to drive the car since I bought it and Im so close, I need it out for the summer Im sure you feel me. Thanx

You can either change the front cover plate from the mechanical engine and a few throttle linkage stuff

OR

RUN PREMIX BABY https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

I think premix is a hassle, you cant forget to do it every time you fill up or your motor will go boom. doesn't sound like you got the right harness for the 89 motor. These swaps have been done alot. have you searched? there is gotta be an easyier solution.

I definitly got the right wiring harness but plugs and sockets from my 88 are not compatible with the plugs and sockets from the 89 stuff. I tryed to take off the electric oil metering pump and throw on the manual one but it doesnt go close to fitting. Neone know neone who has done this swap, Im sure it was done b4 how the hell I dont know. I was thinkin if I can trick the solenoid to open when the engine is running but the solenoid would stay in the fully open position no matter what revolution the engine is running at. Does neone know how this will effect my engine? If I go premix how much oil with a full tank of gas? and is regular 30-50 good?

Does neone know if they sell an adapter?
