i was wondering what the stock psi was and whats the most psi you can run on the stock turbo?

vosko 04-14-2003 10:26 AM

stock is 5.5psi

max boost is around 10 psi with proper fuel management

RX7Aggie 04-14-2003 12:37 PM

mine has some mad free-flowing exhaust and i spike up to 8 psi when drop into 2nd

other than that, mine hits around 7 under hard acceleration

Turbo II 04-14-2003 02:09 PM

10 on stock ecu, correct?

vosko 04-14-2003 02:16 PM

yeah 10psi on stock ecu. you can go higher but the stock turbo isn't happy and starts puking oil short thereafter. ask me how i know https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

j9fd3s 04-14-2003 02:38 PM

LOL vosko. You'd be the one to try too. How many rotary's have you killed! lol

vosko 04-14-2003 02:56 PM

honestly the only engine that i caused its demise 100% was my turbo II and i couldn't expect too much the TII i basically brought that engine back from the dead https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

yeah you have to say that we can only give vosko partial credit for blowing up one engine, thats pretty good considering his track record

10 psi out of the stock turbo is the max? My friends turbo II is running about 14... and has been for quite some time

Apollorx7 04-15-2003 12:58 PM

also thought the limit was 14-15 psi on the stock turbo

ILUVMY88CABRIO 04-15-2003 02:30 PM

I've been hitting 14 - 15 psi in 4th and 5th gear, no problems. My turbo was shot before I did exhaust and FMIC, and has not gotten any worse. I wouldn't recomend a TII with ONLY full exhaust running 14 psi, the engine wouldn't last too long. As for me, I very rarely hit 14 psi because I know it isn't the best for the engine/turbo. But when I plan on getting high boost I run it super rich with the SAFC. I need to upgrade to some 720s though, I'd feel alot safer.

sidewinderx7 04-15-2003 04:06 PM

bah! boost it to 20! It will work fine! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

ILUVMY88CABRIO 04-15-2003 04:10 PM
