Hi
I am new to my 88 RX-7 (non turbo/5speed) and it has been running good/driving fine ect for the last 6 months. Today I was driving and the car just died on me, almost like it lost all electrical power to the EFI/IGNITION/ALT ect. I put the clutch in and tried to start it and the ignition key did nothing. I popped the clutch in 4th (rolling about 45mph/key on) and it did nothing at all. Too me it seems like there is no electrial to the EFI/ginition. The headlights/flashers still work thought. I messed with pos/neg and nothing helped. Any ideas???? Fuses/relays/ect that would cause this? Thanks Lee |
it wont even try to turn over?

check the Main fuse, either 80 or 100amp in the engine bay, thats the same type of thing i went thru when my main fuse blew.
make sure to check closely mine didnt look broken either until i removed it and looked real closely. kevin. |

fuses dont blow for no reason |
Nope, all electical in the interior of the car is dead except the door lights.

Anyone with any ideas on what could be wrong? Anyone need a parts car? $300 for it.
The engine ran excellent until this happened. |
maby jsut some faulty wiring came loose or something?
|
Are you SURE you checked all interior fueses? What about the "ENG" fuse inside the car?

tap the starter with a large wrench or tire tool mine did the same thing with a 1yr old starter, it did it twice now i havent exp. it anymore.

Check your alternator + plus battery. Can you jump start your car?
|
Oops, just read that you tried to pop the clutch..hrrm sounds like an ECU failure, open the ECU casing and smell it. If it smells funny, it's possible that one of the capacitors leaked onto the board and shorted it. This happened to me twice in my Talon.
