So there's this guy I know who bought an 87 base model not running. Everything seems fine with the car except for the fact that the injectors are not firing. Fuel is making it to the injectors but there is no fuel in the combustion chamber. The rails are always full when he takes them off but it seems like for some reason they are not opening. Could it be a relay? He says the fuse is good so I wonder if it could be the relay. He has even replaced the ecu but has not solved the problem, any info would be great.

Two things come to mind..One is that the Fuel lines are Backwards at the engine..<Make sure that the First Line to go to the PRIMARY injectors Comes From the Fuel Filter..Sometimes an Ownere will Change the Filter and take TWO lines off,and then Mix them up!!!..another thing is the EGI fuses themselves,as there are TWO really,.,so check teh two inner Fuses towrads the engine on the Engine bay Fuise block..DEFLOOD the engine also, and get some Compression in there with a bit of oil,Roll it over and get the Engine lubed,THEN put the Plugs(cleaned or NEW) back in and give it a shot..Good luck.

Well, I only really know what this guy is telling me. He doesnt have internet access so he cant post for himself, but I plan on going over the entire fuel system personally. I never thought about the backwards hoses thing though, that seems interesting. I am about ready to put my money on a ground short somewhere in the harness between the ecu and the injectors. It would be highly improbable that all 4 injectors go out at once, plus I took the set out of my 86 parts car and it still didnt solve the problem. But at any rate, thanks for the eye brow raising point of view with the feed/return lines being possibly mixed. Ill check his EGI fuses also.

Problem found, as I anticipated it was the "relay" or rather the Fuel Resistor Relay pack behind the passenger headlight. Took about half an hour to retrieve and replace to start a car that sat up for 2+ years. Woohoo, +1 for me baby https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif thanks for what input was given,
