Ok I need some help guys, being that I have never owned a N/A Rotary I am trying to get as much power out of this thing. Well I got the plates on the car, got the insurance and I got the tire fixed, took it for a ride down the road...

Car could be passed by a kid on a set of roller blades. there was no power whatsoever. rev to 7000 rpm and the car would bog on the next shift. now I have done some research on the ports, and here is what has been done so far...

cone air filter has been installed

Air pump removed

BAC is inop (idle currently steady @ 700 rpm)

one Catalytic convertor is left, the small one just off the stock exhaust manifold

Throttle body secondary plates are wired in the open position (poor mans throttle mod)

6 port acctuators are wired open ( I think)

The Car requires almost 3000-3500 rpm just to get it moving. there is no pickup or power below 3000 rpm at all. It is barely able to climb some of the minor hills in the area on the highway, I am forced all the way into 2nd gear to try to make some of them starting at 60 mph

It just seems that I am not doing something right.

It fires right up, revs to 1300-1500 rpm for 20-30 second, anf there is no problems revving it. I folowed the timing procedure in the haynes manual and picked up some power, but not that much.

there is no 3800 rpm stumble or hesitation that makes it feel like more fuel is coming from the secondaries.

I need some pics from some of you guys that wired the 6 ports open so that I can compare and make sure that I did not wore them closed by mistake

Thanks any inputs will be appreciated.

sounds like a blown engine, do a po man compression test. if not maybe cats are clogged

thats the next step :(

I do not think its blown, although i could be mistaken...

Ok looks like we have a winner folks, the previous owner had stated they had changed battery, fuel pump, plugs and plug wires. So I had checked the plug wires to make sure they were correct, checked all the fluids and obvious stuff, just did not seem like a blown motor. Looks like I will have to do the compression test now.. I did the poor mans test and the rear rotor plugs are like they were just installed, 2 small carbon marks where the spark has been jumping the gap other than that they are brand new looking, Front rotor has the tell tale signs of firing, carbon is on the plug ends and they are ablack/charcoal grey of good burning plugs.

I took the trailing plugs out, turned the engine over by hand, and got 6 swooshes...have to do a good test with a compression tester. Just seems weird that all 3 chambers would not be firing on the rear rotor, plugs should have some carbon trailing from at least one chamber firing right?

that is odd check for spark first then start the digging!
