Okay I know I brought this up a while back

1986-88 do indeed have lower compression rotors.

Engine Specifications (Normally Aspirated) Engine Type: Twin Rotor 13B

Displacement: 1308cc/80ci

Compression Ratio: 9.4:1

Output(hp): 146bhp @ 6500 rpm

Torque: 138lb-ft @ 3500 rpm

Fuel Supply: Electronic Fuel Injection

Engine Specifications (TurboII Model) Engine Type: Twin Rotor 13B Turbocharged

Displacement: 1308cc/80ci

Compression Ratio: 8.5:1

Output(hp): 182bhp @ 6500 rpm

Torque: 183lb-ft @ 3500 rpm

Fuel Supply: Electronic Fuel Injection

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1989-91

Engine Specifications (Normally Aspirated) Engine Type: Twin Rotor 13B

Displacement: 1308cc/80ci

Compression Ratio: 9.7:1

Output(hp): 160bhp @ 7000 rpm

Torque: 140lb-ft @ 4000 rpm

Fuel Supply: Electronic Fuel Injection

Engine Specifications (TurboII Model) Engine Type: Twin Rotor 13B Turbocharged

Displacement: 1308cc/80ci

Compression Ratio: 9.0:1

Output(hp): 200bhp @ 6500 rpm

Torque: 196lb-ft @ 3500 rpm

Fuel Supply: Electronic Fuel Injection

My point being.... Would it be ideal to keep the 86-91 intake and swap out for a Turbo Exhaust and turbo, run about 5 PSI for a solid 200 HP engine with plenty of low end torque. The 9.4:1 is a little high for a Turbo motor, but with just a little boost it would seem to be a great performance swap for very little money.

(Also swap out for the 550cc turbo injectors).

It takes a lot of custom work, but it would have alot of power w/ those high compression 89+ rotors. But ofcourse more prone to detention. I was going to do this too, but said screw it i'll just get the whole package.

The 9.4 rotors will be ok. With both the Haltech and bigger injectors you'll be able to tune it properly. Just make sure that your entire fuel system is up to the task. I've heard of a few people running high compression rotors with a turbo, and they had good results, even with high boost. If you limit yourself to 7-8 PSI and add an intercooler you'll be ok. without an intercooler the intake temperatures may get too hot.

Damn! You have hardley had that thing running, and you already want to turbo it. LOL! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

Find a nice NPR intercooler, if it'll fit in there.

No I'll do it right. I'm already thinking of a 13B J-Spec Turbo swap next year. I still have things such as paint, seats, airbags (suspension) to work on.

I was only curious about this because everyone seems to think the 86-91 motors are the same internally. I had read of the lower compression and slightly heaver rotors of the 86-88 and thought it would be a great hop up to put a Turbo on it.

I plan to take my Zuki over to a Haltech Tunner to put it on the Dyno and get the HP out of it that it should have. It's too hard to tune and make a run with the g-tech to really be effective.

It's running really good, Starts everytime, pulls hard, but I've gone less than 50 miles and went through a tank of gas. :( So I know I am running rich.
