There's no rev limiter on mine and I don't think any rx7 have one but they all have a buzzer that sounds over the red line.

Exclamation

They also have a nice big tach. That, and knowledge of the consequences of over-revving a stock engine should be sufficient to keep you under the red line.

Note: The preceding statement does not apply either to crazy teenagers or people with more money than brains. :lachuh:

when you hear the buzzer, and smoke comes out, let off the gas a little bit. but if a civic is still ahead of you, waste and the engine, and gun it to 14000rpm.

other than that, there is no rev limiter.

The rev limiter is pretty high, somewhere around 8600 RPM.

I've never reached that limit. What kind of rev limiter is this, a fuel cut or more likely a ignition cut? ???

I'm sure it's an ignition cutoff. Cutting off fuel at 8K+ RPM would be a bad idea.

Yeah, that's why I said "more likely to be an ignition cut off". I've never experienced such thing and there's nothing interesting in power at such RPM with stock rx7s anyway.

I think I've taken my motor to 8500 RPM. It keeps pulling, but I can't rev it like that for too long.

It's pretty high but I'm sure the motor is much more 'comfortable', so to speak, than a piston engine when reaching the red line. :thumbs-up:
