I know someone who's willing to sell me a set of 4 piston calipers from a Turbo II but he also told me that they might not fit a NA driveshaft due to size problems.....is that true? aren't they the same as GXL's ??

The front calipers are the same: http://www.mazdatrix.com/j-2brake.htm .

That's what I figured, but I was too lazy to say anything. I figured I would just make a bunch of supporting posts instead. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Yah. Just in case it needs saying: The brakes on the rear of a Turbo II are single piston calipers. Only the fronts are 4-piston.

what about GXLs ??? 4 pistons everywhere? or same as TII's ??

GXL's have 4 piston up front, single piston out back.

Yes. Because of weight transfer during braking and other phenomena best left in physics class, the front wheels and brakes do the most work when stopping. No car I know of has ever run four-piston calipers in the rear. ( But that doesn't mean much )

Partly for that reason, even today manufacturers put yucky drum brakes on many low-end rides.
