What up N.P fam. I have a 86' gxl tII swapped and i want to squeeze a minimum of 400 whp out of her. the car has 120k+ on it and is in good shape besides interior and suspension. The Motor runs very strong and doesnt smoke or leak. (from what i see anyway) I need a little help with this build cause im shooting for a reliable setup that can get me 400 or more whp. Ive been told that i would need new cast irons and or rotor housings by a few big name shops, but i have built a few rotories before and they didnt need them. So any help and EXPERT advice would be greatly appreciated. Or you could text me at 757-328-7451. Thanks Fam.

You will need a T4 frame turbo above 60mm( to4S/60-1 Gt35R etc). A full fuel system, 550/1680 injectors with a big pump and regulator usually does the trick. A aftermarket ecu; haltech/microtech apex pfc etc. A decent clutch, exhaust and intercooler. You can make 400rwhp on a stock motor; here is 450rwhp on a stock block https://www.nopistons.com/forums/To4Z-t75180.html

Im cautious, doing all this to a motor of questionable mileage I cant see it lasting very long.

If you ask me the MOST important thing you will require is a person to tune the car. You can throw all the parts you want at the car

and if you dont tune it right you will waste alot of money real fast.

I reached exactly 400hp on my set up, mostly everything is brand new, dealer acquired where applicable

Large street port motor

fully rebuilt, all new seals, new oil pump, gears

S6 rotating assembly, 30k mile set up

HKS cast iron manifold

Garrett T04B

HKS wastegate

Greddy BOV

Greddy FMIC

Toyota Supra TT fuel pump

850s/1680s on KG rails, Aeromotive FPR

Wolf V500

MSD 6AL on leading, but rev limiter is controlled by the Wolf

M&W Ignitor on trailing

AEM boost control solenoid controlled by the Wolf

All the parts are important, right down to the boost controller, but the TUNE is very important. Car runs and drives factory.

You dont have to port the motor, but you will need more turbo then I have like Revvin is mentioning above

It aint cheap, it aint easy. Go cheap and easy and I will bet you the motor will not last

For a reliable 400hp buy an American muscle car. There is no such thing as a reliable rotary car.

That is not true, I have put 30K miles on a single turbo car and low boost was 23psi...

Engine is still fine. Just takes a lot of $$$

agreed 100% with the money , but more important is tuning and keeping up with the tune on the car
