Okay well heres the deal, I am from Des Moines which is in Iowa and I have seen this RX-7 in this guys driveway for the last two years and it seemed pretty nice so the other day I decided to stop by to check it out. It ended up being RHD that was shipped over when the guy came back from the Army in Japan. There is approx. 50k on it and hes owned it since 94 and is the second owner. There is quite a bit done to it which I did not expect but honestly doesnt even matter to me. I asked the guy how much he was looking for and he said around $6,000. Is this a good deal?

Ive also heard horrible things about rotary motors from people that dont own them so I would like to know what you guys think about them and why you keep and own an RX-7?

Im new to all of this but I am very mechanically inclined so Im always up for a challenge.

6k for jdm tubo eh. Sounds just a little High, but on the other hand its already in the states Doesn't sound too bad. How is the registration? Is it legal here? Will it pas your smog laws you have up there.

Rotaries are good cars, if you keep them in good condition. Yes they do take some little extra TLC, but if you have love for the car it wouldn't matter.

A rotary engine will use between 1/2-1 quart of oil every 3000 miles, depending on how hard you drive it. This is normal, its suppose to do that. It uses oil to lubricate the apex seals and the used oil gets burned up in the combustion process.

Do your HW on the car first.

That sounds like an incredible deal to me...granted that the car is in good working order...ask him about the last compression test he had done...check the plugs for carbon build, really give it a good look before you commit to it...also ask if he has had a rebuild yet

Hes got some nice unknown rims he got from over there, suspension, full exhaust, upgraded turbo kit, and he said the motor had been portflowed i believe, the thing is, is that it does not run. He said hes got fuel and spark so I dont know if anyone of you have suggestions what the problem might be? He has a lot of money into this car and I know 6 is a lot but I dont want to lowball him and scare him off since he doesnt really know if he wants to sell it or not but Ill try my best to have him lower the price.

DO the basic flooded start. Take out the fuel fuse. crank it over for 3sec stick it back in. Or maybe needs some new fuel.

6k for a non running TII? It depends really on how often you see RX-7's for sale in your area. That's the only thing I would worry about. Oh, and the fact it is RHD, it will attract way too much attention.
