Well I noticed that when I installed my Greddy FMIC that the pipe going to the throttle body is to big and pushes against my brake master cylinder resevior. I was thinking that if I could get a Greddy elbow that was meant for a third gen to fit it would solve my problem and look really cool also. Has anyone tried this? If so did you modify the elbow or just get the third gen intake manifold and throttle body and put it on your car? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You have to shave the elbow. I guess this kit is made for jap cars, and the brake mast cyclinder is on the other side.

No, the bolt pattern is totally different. Have you ever though of using the n/a plastic elbow and tapping it for the intake air thermosensor? It bolts right up, and even faces the right direction for a FMIC. Ill get a pic later if you want.

The elbow used for a stock NA does fit, and is a really good choice for doing custom FMICs, only one problem. The NA elbow is so big that it hits the oil fill tube on a T2. We did this on roadkill669's '87 T2..I think he's going to make a custom oil filler neck though that should work fine. If you wanted to got his route, let me know..i've got extra NA elbows...



However, the best thing and quickest thing to do is do what I did..and cut ur final(#5 pipe) pipe on the GReddy kit off by about 2"...it has enough straight pipe to make the cut and it will clear the master cylinder. Rotaryman88 what did you use to put a beed in the end of the #5 pipe to keep it from popping off? Isn't the NA elbow made of plastic and have all kinds of bumps in it(kind of look like the stock TID for the TII)? I would prefer to keep my intake track as smooth as possible.



Revvin you are correct in your assumtion. The kit was designed for a right hand drive car.



Mazdaspeed the bolt pattern doesn't matter because I could just fill in the old holes with JB weld and drill new ones to meet up to my stock throttle body. My biggest concern with the Greddy elbow is will it clear my oil filler neck and come close to matching up with my #4 pipe?

i think the fd greddy elbow would end up facing the back of the car.

I haven't had any problems w/ it popping out...but then again I haven't boosted much either(motor not broken in). However, you can buy a tool that you put in the end of the pipe and bang it down to "flare" the end out. I was concerned about this when I did the cut, but honestly I don't think it'll be a big issue...you could also put small screws in at 4 different spots, then cut the screw off on the inside..the bolt heads would be enough to hold it on. I saw that on an silvia boosting 20psi and the owner never had a problem w/ it popping off.



also, the stock na elbow looks bumpy, but the inside track is smooth..only the outside appears rigid..

we cut ours and it hasnt moved, in 2 years

I wasnt aware of the oil filler neck thing, but I can definately see where it would be a problem. I cut and rewelded my TII oil filler neck. It now sits just above the CAS.

Man, I have so much more work to do. I thought it through and I still have about 2 more weeks because I have to build an entire new exhaust system and have to wait for my pipe. Oh well, it's worth it.

I used a GSL-Se filler neck and cut and welded it.Now it sits under and off towards the firewall.Looks good with my billet oil cap too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

look at the tb's, the fc turbo one is upside down compared to the fd.

WTF is that in the first pic?? Its obviously on a T2 and I think it says GReddy...what kit did they use that in..looks like bad flow to me...

Ah...

I cut ~1.5" off the TB side of the last pipe and re-welded it to the other side of teh pipe. That shifted the whole pipe in a back a bit. It lined up perfectly for me. I do not currently have a bead welded on the TB side. But on the dyno this weekend we boosted 20psi with no problems. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
