I have a 87turbo2 fmic stock fuel system air intake im running 8psi right now with the stock exhaust gutted cats . There’s a leek and it sounds like crap I here alot of people blowing there motors when they do a 3in full exhaust. People say to port the wastgate . I was wondering even with a ported wastgate would it be safer if i ran a 2.5 downpipe to my cat back i have now or would it run fine and not boost spike if i ran 3in ported wastgate . i was looking at Thunder Fabrications 3in to 2.5 so it blots up to the stock cat back what are your guys thoughts on that set up with what i have ? or get the racing beat exhaust someone i know is selling a used one for 400 ? thanks !!!!!!

For turbo cars, after the turbo you want as little resistance in the exhaust as possible - so 3".

I agree, except that he's running a basically stock setup. Definitely port the wastegate, and you'll need an FCD if you don't already have one. Might be a good time to change the fuel filter, upgrade the fuel pump and think about some way to increase fuel.

I doubt you'll notice much difference between a 2.5 and a 3". Go with what fits the budget and is most in keeping with your objectives for the car.

Did you have something to control the bigger injectors? 680's on the primary? Secondary? Or both?

It would take an awful lot of fuel to keep the engine from revving over 3500, which is about where the factory ECU brings in the secondary injectors. Was it blowing black smoke?

i had 680cc secondary injectors. i talked to someone at mazdatrix and they said the stock ecu was seeing way to much fuel . i would try and rev it and u could here the bov going off like as if my rev limiter was on . They told me to put in the stock injectors and see what happens i did and it was running better faster also.
