Gmon and I have been trying to fix this for the last 6+ hours.
At or real close to 3800rpms the car just hits a brick wall, feels just like an n/a when the secondaries are unplugged. This happens regardless of pressure, low vacuum or boost. What we have done: Direct power to the secondaries and they spray and do not leak. They were cleaned previously; the injectors are not the problem Checked that the injectors have power when the car is the "on" position Checked for contiunity on the signal wires for the injectors; check injector cap pins to make sure they are touching, injectors caps are new also. injector wiring is not the problem. We swapped afms, ecu, pressure sensors, put in a "pill", hooked it up to a direct source. Added two large grounds to the block. All other grounds are hookedup. We are stumped as to why this thing hesitates so hard. It will not go past 4k at wot/part throttle. It acts like there is no fuel, like its so lean it just won't go anywhere. I do not know for a fact that the injectors aren't opening. The car is also running like ass right now for some reason, but thats another post. |
coils/cas/pressure sensor are within spec. cas wires have contiunity, plugs are firing. Plugs are 1600 miles old. 15k miles on jacobs wires. Fuel filter has been replaced.

ill come down and help this week sometime when I get off work, being that I have the same problem. Id be interested in seeing what happens when my haltech goes in, if it stops, maybe its a natural reaction for the stock ecu to go into limp mode under certain conditions with certain mods done to the car. Maybe its a fuel pressure problem???

what year is the car? if its 89-91 try plugging in a solenoid into the fpr connector, and clearing the code
|
its an 88.

bad omp throwing it into limp mode?

well that gives me some ideas. I tried plugging the solenoid into fpr connector, but didnt clear codes. I'm also going to block off the omp and go premix, then we'll see what happens. El you should just sell that thing. What was the offer you got? 6k?

If the guy comes back around with the money the car is gone no doubt. I should assume I am keeping the car though, and keep on fixing it up.

Yes, but is there a backwards way to hook it up to the wiring harness?

tried maybe a stethoscope on the injectors to see if you can hear em opening?

just out of curiousity, check your fuel pump, maybe she ain't getting enought gas, the AFR drops , and she goes in limp mode, just a thought

do you have power @ the secondary injectors?
|
Have you tried just swapping ECUs? Could be a burned up circuit somewhere on the board..

Ahh sorry I overlooked that.
Tough situation! |
Well with Camel's help I did some backprobing. Tps/cas/injs/water/air temps sensors are all giving the correct voltage to the ecu.

|
!!! wow

if it its not injectors or ground.. then the ecu is blown... remove the passenger side carpet.. then take off the ecu plugs.. and smell where the plugs go.. if it smells burnt then its a bad ecu... but then the problem is.. how did it blow.. maybe u have a short somewhere.. the reason im saying this is because.. ive seen some many 3800 rpm hesitation problems .. its not even funny... if it feels like it hits a brick wall.. then u can eliminate the fuel filter... fpr.. coils.. cas... injectors...or pressure sensor...i think its the ecu....
|
Just installed a new walbro fuel pump/intank filter. Old one was not clogged. Problem is still not fixed. The outer fuel filter was replaced before I got he car, I can see new hose/clamps on it too so I know its been replaced.
