Hi all I would like to know if I should see a difference (in power) when I go more than 4000 rpm ??
should i see the difference when the secondary injector goes on ?? thanx Jonathan |
You really won't feel the difference, but its there...its kind of a gradual thing that isn't noticeable really...unless you have mods. Why do you ask?
|
because I don't see any difference.. the only thing I see is the f*ing hesitation at 3800 :(.
I just don't feel I have all the power that I should ! I don't know how to test the power of the car ... do you have any idea how to check that ?? thanx Jonathan |
What kind of car do you have? what year? mods? etc....
The hesitation is typical, I had a little one back when my SE was NA, but I got rid of it by running an extra ground to the secondary injectors... |
mmmmm I'm not shure what model I have but this is the description:
rx7- 88 electrical rooftop 13b electric mirror no ac no turbo no electric window no cruise control 2 seats As long as i know the car as no mod I don't know if it tell you something ??? thanx Jonathan |
Looks like you've got an SE like mine, lol. The 14" phone dial wheels are the give away...
Well, your car has 146hp stock, probably a little less now due to age. First thing first if your looking for more power from it...tune it up. Get new spark plugs, wires, oil change, etc... then get a cone filter for it. Then it will be running smoothly and cleanly. I'd also recommend having the injectors sent off to RC to be cleaned out..its always a plus. And you can do the ATF trick to regain what you may have lost in HP.... let me know if you want tips on real power out of that NA... |
My car was an 88 and it had among other things many problems. One of them being the 3800 RPM hisitation. I've told this story a million times because I searched everywhere on the net and couldn't find anything other than the ground strap fix and the actuator test.
It turned out the problem was my 2ndary injectors were bad. But not before I replaced the CAT's with a Bonz pipe, did a tuneup a million times and checked and rechecked everything. The results where WOW... At 4K is pulled pretty good. You could definatly tell that they were working. My other problem was the master cylinder was leaking. It was leaking from a sensor underneath it which has something to do with the active suspension. I replaced it with one that didn't have this sensor, since I didn't care about it's function and the sensor was $$$. I got the car running really good before I pulled the motor to put into my Zuki. The body of this RX7 was hit from everyside. I don't think there was any straight metal left on it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... |

The RX2 doesn't have the 6 ports. But you can feel when the 2ndary's of the Carb open up though with a 12A. I had a RX2 also and it's pretty linear in power (very smooth). Had a horible problem with backfiring, which was a problem with thermal reactor Mazdas. I wish I still had that car, when the motor died I gave it away. :(
In the 6 port motor if your injectors aren't working it would DIE when it gets up to 4000 RPM. If your actuators aren't working. You won't even really notice by just driving it without doing the grease trick, of stick a camcorder under your hood. My motor is a 88 (146HP base also) and putting a hand held vacuum pump I could test the opening of the six ports by putting pumping air into the line running on the exhaust headpipe (it's a small vacuum size hose). You should be able to freely rotate the 6 ports with your hand, They are easy to move, or should be. |
ground the ECU: its under the carpet in the passenger footwell. Get some 14 gauge wire and run it directly from the ECU ground, to the (-) terminal of the battery. While yer at it ground all kinds of other **** too like TPS, firewall, injectors, block, pressure sensor, etc
