This question is kinda directed at anyone running coilover sleeves (ie Ground Control/K2RD).

What is your ride heigth? ie how much lower is it compared to stock?

Jim, what is your ride height, i know you track the car, autox and drive it on the street. That is what i do with my.

Also anyone reading this thread, do u think 1.5 inches drop all the way around is really low?

the Bilstein AWR front setup raises the spindle height up 1.5 inches, therefore it raises the wheel hub up 1.5 inches, meaning it lowers your car 1.5 inches.

Thanks for all who reply

i'll measure the race car tomorrow, its pretty damn low. our street cars are not that low, i think i'm at about 25" from the ground to the top of the wheel opening. of course theres bumps on the street

what about the yellow car?

Jims5543 12-09-2003 11:12 PM

I just measured my TII in my garage and it sits at 25" as well to the top of the fender well.

I am curious what a stock TII sits at now. Anyone?

Cheers! 12-09-2003 11:25 PM

Jim is your front and rear heights roughly equal?

my TII is 300 kms away from me right now.

Jims5543 12-09-2003 11:39 PM

Roughly, my rear is actually about 1/4" lower for whatever reason.

I dont mess with it it aint broke if you know what I mean.

I still have not installed the lighter springs. I am afraid it will screw up the car.

Mine was 24.5 with 235-40-17s, and GC coilovers. 7" rear, and 6" front springs all the way down in the front, I am going to Advanced Design, with a shortened strut with 345-28-18 rears, and 320-30-18 fronts on 18x12s, and 18x10.5s. Oh I have a Tripoint widebody https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png the ride height S/B at 25-24.5 to have the roll center right at ground level according to Tripoint. Carl

roll centres are blah.

i don't beileve in using roll centres to find suspension geometry, since it doesn't really tell you much. Also the fact the roll centre changes as a funtion of your wheel travel, how are you suppose to use it as a design parameter if it is constantly changing?

FCmaniac 12-10-2003 04:27 PM

I don't think we have much suspension travel (for street) so unless you go with shortened struts or true coilovers, 1.5" may be too much without pretty high spring rates to avoid bottoming. I use shortened Koni poly bumpstops on my other car too which help soften the blow when I run out of travel.

the bilstein coilovers move the spindle up by 1.5 inches effectively lowering your car 1.5 inches but retaining the range of motion for the shock.

i'll measure the race car today

j9fd3s 12-11-2003 12:17 PM

ok race car approx 23" f and 24.5" rear

"stock" 89 approx 26.5 r and 25 f

thank you!

My car supposedly has 2" lower springs all around. (bought the car with these)

Here's a pic of it. They aren't stock rims though, that can make it look a little different too.

Oh and i forgot to mention. It isn't too rough on the street with clearance and such. I scraped the front bumper once on a steep driveway doing delivery but other than that i have no problems except hard bumps over railroad tracks and such but I take it slow over things that I see may be critical. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
