aight so i just bought a 1990 GXL FC rx7
its practically in mint condition and the engine only has 55k miles on it and ive learned that its hard to push anything over 200 hp on a NA engine so Do i need to buy anything other than: * TII engine (does it matter what year it is?) * TII transmission * TII drive shaft and instalation fee https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.gif how much is this gonna run me? and how much could i get if i sell the NA engine as is? (dont waste your time flaming me, cause it wont impress anyone https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... ) thanks guys! |
if your goin to just swap to a t2 only you will need the following
s5 t2 motor engine harness and matching t2 ecu all the t2 spacific sensors t2 tranny t2 drive shaft t2 diff and axels at minimum t2 fuel pump or a turbo 255lph basicaly all the t2 drive line components and a t2 starter then there is some odds and ends you may want to go with like springs and suspention upgraded and posibly the radiator as the na rad doesnt cool enuff in hot weather for the hp a turbo can put out. its not rocket sience here you want a t2 swap you will need everything t2 under the sun to do the job right what can you posibly be confused about randy |
well excuse me randy for not being a rocket scientist
but thank you for your information |
Actually, here is a real list of what you need, if you don't have the time or resources to get everything TII all at once.
-TII complete engine -TII ECU -TII engine harness -TII AFM, boost sensor -TII throttle cable -Some kind of aftermarket boost gauge -TII, FD, or some better fuel pump (Walbro 255lph if you plan to go big. -TII hood Put your NA flywheel on the TII engine. That way you can use the NA driveline, and starter. Your FC looks familiar. |
if you go with a na drive line your trans , diff and axels wont last long. if your goin to tear into the car to do a swap do it right the first time , do all t2 drive line parts so you wont have to redo the drive line at a later date.

If you are a mad tyte dorifto king, then yes you should change the driveline.
If you are a 1/4 mile king, then yes you should change the drivelline. If you just drive about enjoying your turbocharged FC, then no, the N/A is fine. Ever heard of Aaron Cake? Enough said. Oh, and going on 3 years with the NA driveline. 2 trips to Deals Gap, and alot of random tire destruction. But maybe my car will self destruct tomorrow because I 'cheaped out' |
thanks everyone , ill be sure to give the updates when i get the cash
(around march) haha and yeah i do plan on drifting the crap out of this thing so ...i guess im changing the driveline lol |

i bought a JDM front clip, its the easiest way to go all you need is the diff and shafts. it costed me 2400 including shipping.

I like to keep my fingers crossed.
I am actually getting rid of my 17's and sticky 255's out back in favor of some BBS vert wheels with 225's all around. That should put less stress on the driveline and prolong the inevitable. |
