Ok this is my situation and my symptoms. When I start the car the engine drops to about 1200 then it starts to surge. It jumps up and down from 800-1200 for 1 minute then starts to go down to 200 and back up to 1200, it does that 2 or 3 times and then stalls out when its at about 200. Also if you drive the car, it tops out at about 53 mph. like it drives with incredible power loss problems.
I have been starting research in the following areas. Vacuum Leak BAC is bad or TPS I am very new to rotary engines so I don't know very much. Basic mechanics is basic mechanics, but this is beyond a tune up. I welcome all possibilities, similar experiences and worse case senarios. Specifics on how to fix the issue is highly welcomed as well!! |
Does the engine smoke?
I would do a compression check right away... it sounds like you have a blown seal... or two, or three I know it's not good news. but thats what it sounds like. Good luck man. Markus |
I had a similar situation when my car came out of the rebuild shop. I did not try to fix it, I sent it right back. they said that there were multiple vacuum leaks, EGR solenoid was bad. I got the car back and it ran better but had very little power. I finally noticed that the nut to the crank angle sensor was loose and the timing was way off. I fixed that and the car ran very well. I am having TPS problems now but that is a different story.
Check for the vacuum leaks first. Also check the timing. Other guys with more experience can probably give you the order with which to check things, I will ust splurt out ideas because of things that happened to me recently. Good luck. |
The surging idle is more than likely your TPS. Have you tried adjusting it? Also check for vac leaks. Use some carb cleaner to spray in areas that may be leaking. The idle will change when you spray the area that is leaking.

tps

Could the tps account for the incredible loss in power or is that just a response to the idling..
Thanks, Joseph |
By the way, the engine does not produce ANY smoke what so ever...

possible uni-rotor? thats the kind them circus folk use

Are your 5th and 6th ports opening?
You can smear a little grease on the actuator arm too see if they are working. |
I am not sure if the 5th and 6th ports are opening, but power through first second and third is very weak too, the fact that low-end power is so weak leads me to believe that the 5th and 6th ports opening are not really the issue. I really hope this turns out to be timing, bac, or vacuum leak (hose, not gasket). I just don't even no where to begin here...
