I have been reading forums on my problem with my 87 rx-7 and I seem to be stuck. I am having problems with my coolant system, and one forum will say that i need a bleed and another will say that I need to rebuild. My resavoir is full and when I empty it, it gets full again within minutes. Can idle the car for the most part without the coolant buzzer of death going off, but once I start driving, which is about 2-5 minutes of easy driving, the buzzer sounds. I have bleed the system from the rad, and I have flushed the system. The only thing I have not done is drain from the engine block. I am guessing that I have a crap ton of air trapped in the block but I am not sure. Is there anyone that may be able to lead me in the right direction. My goal was to get this car running right to where I can drive it to Wisconsin from Kansas to drop it off at my buddies who is going to hook it up while I am deployed. I want to keep the rotary cuz I hear nothing but good things about them, but the way things are going, I might have to get a 350 put in it, but I don't want to go down that road. I bought the car for $500 and figured it will be a great project car, and let me tell ya, it is lol.

Welcome to nopistons!

Are you saying that you keep emptying the coolant reservoir? And it's beeping (I'm assuming a low coolant buzzer)?

Not everytime, but I would say 3 out of the 6 times I have flushed and bleed the system. It stays full, It will not take the fluid from the reservoir.

are you losing coolant or is it full? and if your losing it is there a leak underneath the car or is it just smoking white out the back

My guess would be front iron cracked (broken) water seal grove. Sorry man it happens to a lot of us.

It won't suck back coolant when it cools because its easier to take in air from the crack in your sealant groove

Just smell in the radiator. It should only smell like coolant and not exhaust gasses.

Meaning I would have to replace motor, or just replace parts?

RicerJ 07-22-2009 01:18 AM

my bet on that would be replace part but you might just want to do a rebuild so everything is good
