So I have a problem with my 13BT. I did a NA to Turbo II Swap. Everything works correctly. However, I just rebuilt this motor and did a large street port on it and it kicks out anywhere from 1/2 qt to 1 qt of oil during warm up. Any ideas?

Blown turbo? Unbolt it from the manifold and see if there is oil residue going into the exhaust turbine, or if it's only coming out the exhaust turbine.





If there's residue coming out the exhaust ports of the motor, then at least you already have the turbo off, so you're well on your way to fixing the motor.

I thought it was the turbo as well. So I had the turbo rebult. Still didn't fix the problem. There is still oil coming out of my exhaust. Any other ideas? I bought a Racing Beat Oil bypass to push at 90 psi and it holds at 90 psi.

pull your spark plugs. if theres oil on them then most likely its your oil control rings. time for a rebuild...

Well see here is the problem. Everything is already rebuilt. Everything is BRAND new from Atkins Rotary. New seals, new gaskets everything. The plates are all within spec (within .0015"). Any other ideas? Yes there was a little oil on the spark plugs, oil in the exhaust, and even oil in the intake manifold. This is my second time inside the motor.

if theres oil on the plugs, then theres always a problem. theres only so many ways to get enought oil in the motor to come out the exhaust.



or you have a few problems. either way, you will need to rebuild it. just because the motor has new parts does not mean it was put together properly. when installing the o-ring in the oil control rings. it is easy to pinch it and break it. or pinch it and cause it to wear excessivly fast. this would be my guess...

The springs on the oil control rings are directional. If they are backwards, they will apply almost no pressure to the oil control rings when the motor is running. Second, check that the oil control rings themselves are within spec. Ive yet to see a set come out of a used engine flat. I always true them when rebuilding an engine.

make sure your port is not too big. going into the oil ring's path can cause this problem.
